The Atlantic Hotel raises over £7,500 for Rewild Carbon

The Atlantic Hotel is proud to announce that it raised £7,544.65 for Rewild Carbon in 2025, marking its third year as a partner of the programme, while also retaining its EarthCheck Silver Certification.

Through its ongoing accreditation with EarthCheck, the world’s leading sustainability benchmarking organisation for hotels, The Atlantic Hotel continues to work diligently to measure and reduce its environmental impact. While significant progress has been made in reducing operational emissions, the hotel recognises that some emissions cannot be avoided and has therefore sought meaningful ways to compensate for them.

In support of this commitment, the 2025 contribution to Rewild Carbon equates to 257 tonnes of carbon credits and will enable the planting and nurturing of 1,336 native species trees in Brazil’s Atlantic forest. This investment will help restore vital habitat for threatened mammal and bird species, while also supporting sustainable livelihoods for local communities. To date, funds raised by The Atlantic Hotel through Rewild Carbon have contributed to the planting of 3,332 trees.

Rewild Carbon is the carbon balancing programme of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, The Atlantic Hotel’s philanthropic partner. Durrell is an internationally respected conservation charity dedicated to saving species from extinction. To date, The Atlantic Hotel has raised over £70,000 for Durrell, supporting its global conservation work.

Patrick Burke, Owner of The Atlantic Hotel, commented: “Sustainability is not a single initiative, but a long-term commitment to doing better year after year. While we continue to reduce our environmental impact through EarthCheck, supporting Rewild Carbon allows us to take responsibility for emissions that cannot be avoided and to invest in nature restoration with real, measurable impact. We are proud to support Durrell and the vital work they do to protect threatened ecosystems and species.”

The Atlantic Hotel recognises that many guests are looking to travel more sustainably and give back to nature. Through its partnership with Rewild Carbon, guests are offered the opportunity to offset the carbon emissions associated with their stay. The hotel has calculated the emissions generated through their stay, and guests are invited to balance this impact through a suggested donation of £1 per night to the Rewild Carbon programme, meaning that each stay supports global rewilding efforts.
