The Atlantic Hotel Enhances Guest Experience with Cutting-Edge In-Room Technology Upgrade

Each year, The Atlantic Hotel in Jersey undergoes a meticulous refurbishment to ensure that standards of luxury, comfort and excellence remain uncompromised for its guests. As part of its ongoing investment in the guest experience, this year’s enhancements included a full upgrade of in-room entertainment systems in partnership with Airwave.

In 2014, Airwave implemented Jersey’s first Sky In-Room service at The Atlantic Hotel. Eleven years later, the hotel was delighted to welcome the Airwave team back to deliver another island first – the installation of Sky Select, Sky’s latest hospitality TV platform.

Unlike its predecessor, Sky In-Room, which required a dedicated Sky box in each guest room, Sky Select delivers a curated selection of premium Sky channels – including live sport, entertainment, and news – via a centralised headend system. This means no in-room hardware and no extra remotes, just seamless access to high-definition content delivered straight to the TV. For guests, it’s an instant, intuitive experience. For the hotel, it’s a streamlined, efficient system with easier management and fewer infrastructure demands.

“To return over a decade later and deliver not one, but two firsts for the island is a real privilege. It’s been a pleasure to support The Atlantic Hotel on its journey to deliver next-generation guest experiences.” Wayne Bowring, Head of Hospitality Sales, Airwave.

To further elevate the in-room experience, The Atlantic Hotel has also implemented Uniguest’s Guest Room Entertainment (GRE) Hub, delivered through state-of-the-art Samsung UHD hospitality displays. This fully branded digital platform offers guests a personalised welcome screen, hotel information, live TV listings, a dynamic weather forecast and access to services – all at their fingertips.

Crucially, the GRE Hub aligns with the hotel’s sustainability goals by removing the need for printed in-room collateral. Real-time content updates across all guest rooms ensure streamlined communication while significantly reducing environmental impact.

As part of this initiative, Airwave planted 54 trees – one for each of the 54 newly installed televisions – to offset the carbon emissions associated with the installation. The trees were planted in Tanzania through a partnership with the Friends of Usambara Society, a community-based organisation focused on reforestation and sustainable development.

The entire system is supported by a completely reengineered TV distribution network, designed and installed by Airwave. From content delivery and hardware to the guest-facing interface, every aspect of the system has been designed to work in harmony, delivering a future-proof, content-rich solution that’s simple for guests, effortless for staff and consistent with The Atlantic Hotel’s luxury ethos.

“Continual investment in the guest experience is central to our philosophy,” said Patrick Burke, Owner and Managing Director of The Atlantic Hotel. “We are proud to be at the forefront of innovation in Jersey’s hospitality industry. This latest collaboration with Airwave enhances the in-room offering for our guests while supporting our long-term commitment to sustainability.”
