Eat Jersey Food Festival 2020 Raises More Than £5,000 In Aid Of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust
Held at The Atlantic Hotel, Jersey from Thursday 12th to Saturday 14th March, this year’s Eat Jersey Food Festival raised £5,141 in aid of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, the festival’s chosen philanthropic partner. The Atlantic has now raised more than £25,000 in support of Durrell since the inception of Eat Jersey in 2015.
Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is an international charity working to save species from extinction. Headquartered at Jersey Zoo, Durrell focuses on the most threatened species in the most threatened places. Established by author and conservationist, Gerald Durrell, in 1959, Durrell’s overall aim is for more diverse, beautiful and resilient natural landscapes in which species can thrive and people can enjoy a deeper connection with nature. Its approach concentrates on the rewilding of animals, the rewilding of ecosystems and the rewilding of people.
Over the course of Eat Jersey, the exemplary line up of chefs (including Will Holland, Daniel Clifford, Kuba Winkowski, Simon Hulstone, William Curley, Joe Baker and Lee Westcott) created memorable dining experiences for Jersey residents and visitors alike. Each specially crafted menu celebrated the finest of the island’s ingredients. A silent auction offered a wealth of prizes from The Atlantic Hotel’s partners and friends.
Patrick Burke, owner and Managing Director of The Atlantic Hotel, said: “As we mark five years since the first Eat Jersey Food Festival in 2015, it is incredibly rewarding for all those involved to have raised in excess of £5,000 for Durrell. It’s a charity close to the hearts of many people in Jersey and further afield and we are thrilled to be able to make this contribution to their invaluable work. We would like to thank all those who donated their time, expertise and money.”
