Les Mielles Golf Club Jersey

Les Mielles can be a mentally challenging course with quite a few of the holes having water running alongside the fairways or short of the green. The key here is to pick good targets and keep your head down. When you’re done you can reward yourself with Jersey ice cream and a view of the beach. As a visiting golfer, you can play here most times of the day, the price will just vary. This course is close to St Ouen’s beach so you will be able to hear the waves crashing as you take a stroll on the links.

Les Mielles is the only public 18 hole course on the Island. It is just inland from St Ouen’s beach, so you will be able to reward yourself with a Jersey soft serve ice cream and a beautiful view, after your great round.

It is an American style parkland course, with quite a few of the holes involving water in some way. This course can be quite tough with a couple of long carries over water, but with a variety of tees, it can be suitable for golfers of all levels. No two holes are the same here, which gives Les Mielles a lot of character.

Les Mielles is open to all standards of golfer and is great for families to play together. There is no handicap limit. Green fees for adults vary from £34-£42.10 for 18 holes depending on the time of day you want to play.

Les Mielles can be busy in the summer and I would advise avoiding Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays, as they tend to be the busiest days for leagues and competitions etc. This is a great course to play in the early evening as you will be able to enjoy dinner afterwards while watching the sunset in the distance.

The dress code at Les Mielles is fairly traditional, with a no denim or tracksuit policy. Shirts are to be collared and tucked in, and long socks are to be worn with shorts for the gentlemen. The clubhouse is open to the public as well as golfers, so the same rules apply as on the course.

There is a good pro shop available at Les Mielles golf course with all your golfing needs to hand. You are able to hire clubs from £15 for 18 holes and a trolley for £5 if you wish. They also have the option to hire a buggy for £27 for 18 holes if you are interested.

Course Description

Les Mielles is a fun course and different from any other course on the Island. It is an 18 hole par 70, starting with a reachable par 5. The tee shot is best kept down the left as there is water that runs down the right side of the fairway. The second and third shot, depending on your level of golf, also need to be kept down the left side of the fairway and green. The green is relatively small and aiming for the middle gives you a reasonable putt. The 2nd hole is another par 5 where you just need to avoid the bunkers as you navigate the hole. The 3rd hole is a fun par 4 which can be reached in one shot depending on how risky you’re feeling that day. The next couple of holes are pretty straightforward par 4s, you just need to avoid the water. The 6th and 8th holes are tricky par 3s that need a safe shot onto the green. I suggest playing your drive on the 9th hole down the left side of the fairway to give yourself the best shot into the green.

The back nine at Les Mielles is a little trickier with a lot of the holes being doglegs and having a few blind shots. The 10th and 11th holes are both doglegs but not too long if you get a good drive on the fairway. The 12th hole is a short but slightly tricky par 3, where you need to carry the water. The 13th hole is a long par 5 which runs close to the beach. This hole is fairly wide open and what you see is what you get. The 14th hole is one of my favourites, as you are able to cut over the end of the driving range if you want to get as close to the green as possible. Those playing it safe just hit it straight down the middle and you’ll have an easy second shot. The next couple of holes are straightforward par 4s and you just need to carry the water on your approach shots. The 18th is a fun finishing hole close to the clubhouse. It’s a par 3 which runs alongside the road. The only trouble is water left of the green so I would advise aiming for the right side of the green. Although Les Mielles can be mentally challenging, I feel very rewarded when I play well here.
