Introduction and background

Situated between England and France, Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands. An independent, English-speaking territory, it has air links to over 45 airports and is easily accessible from anywhere in Europe.

The Atlantic Hotel is a stunning, award winning 50 bedroomed hotel situated on the western side of the island. This world class small luxury hotel is set in six acres of grounds and enjoys dramatic views over a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty. Built in 1970, it is a family owned and run hotel. It is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and has over the years won many awards including four Red Stars and four Rosettes from the AA and the Conde Nast Johansens Award for Best Service in 2006 and 2014.


The role

The owners are looking to recruit a Hotel Manager for this prestigious property. This is a hands on, customer facing role. The individual will be fully responsible for the day-to-day running of the hotel. They must be a leader, an individual who can confidently direct the operation and team, and an out and out ‘people person’. They must relish guest interaction and be prepared to play ‘mine host’.

The role demands that the appointee is highly efficient and organised with great attention to detail. They must be passionate about the ‘nuts and bolts’ of running a hotel. They must be standards driven as the service given to all guests is of the highest level and importance. Candidates will have responsibility for Front of House as well as overseeing the Food and Beverage operation.


Candidate criteria

Candidates must be confident in leading a team and in their decision-making ability. They must show initiative and bring new ideas to the hotel, whilst at the same time recognising that the owner of the hotel will want to have a significant input into any key operational changes.

Candidates should have had experience of running a similar standard of hotel and should have a background that reflects quality. A solid grounding in hotel operations with understanding of both Rooms and Food and Beverage operations is essential as is the experience of operating a leisure-related business. A Deputy Manager with a solid background in the quality resort hotel market would be considered for this position.

The focus of the role is very much based on leadership, man management and delivery of the highest operational and service standards.
