Patrick Burke, Managing Director

Educated at St Michael's School, Jersey and Stowe School, Buckingham, Patrick gained an Honours Degree in Hotel and Catering at the University of Surrey.

This was followed by management experience at two of London's leading five star hotels – The Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge and the Intercontinental at Hyde Park Corner. In 1987 Patrick succeeded his father as Managing Director of The Atlantic and soon embarked on a development programme to upgrade every aspect of the property – a process which led to The Atlantic's admission into membership of Small Luxury Hotels of the World in 1993 – and continues to this day.

Nicholas Walley, Hotel Manager

With more than 18 years' experience in hospitality, Nick joined the team at The Atlantic Hotel in September 2016 as Hotel Manager.

Prior to his move to Jersey, Nick worked at some of Britain's most prestigious establishments including the five-star properties Chewton Glen, The Ritz Hotel, Ellenborough Park and The Vineyard at Stockcross. Nick is proud to be a St Julian's Scholar having passed the scholarship programme of The Master Innholders, during which he benefitted from a management training course at Cranfield School of Management.

Rebecca Kinross, Sales and Marketing Manager

Rebecca (Becky) joined The Atlantic Hotel in October 2018 with almost a decade of diverse marketing experience working in advertising agencies and within the retail sector.

Becky started her career in marketing when she moved to Jersey in 2008. With a First Class Honours Degree in Film Production and a Diploma in Direct and Digital Marketing, she brings a fresh and creative approach to the role. Throughout her career Becky has worked with a wide variety of brands including luxury and aspirational names. It was these clients that she enjoyed working with the most. Originally from Oxford, Becky adores living and working so close to the coast and enjoys spending time with her young family on St Ouen’s beach. A keen runner, Becky loves making the most of the footpaths outlining Jersey’s breath taking coastline.

Hayley Brockwell, Reservations Manager

A native islander, Hayley first joined The Atlantic after leaving college in 1982 and has now been with the hotel for over 30 years.

Currently Reservations Manager, she has experienced the evolution from manual bookings to a computerised system, the internet and e-mail, and she enjoys the day to day variety of her role and the contact she has with old and new guests. She loves The Atlantic's family atmosphere and friendly team, as well as Jersey's tranquil lanes and spectacular views. Away from The Atlantic, Hayley divides her time between visiting her family's timeshare in Tenerife and walking along the island's cliff paths.

Rui Faia, Assistant Manager / Front of House

Born in Madeira, Rui first came to Jersey and The Atlantic Hotel in 2000.

Rui started out in Ocean as a Commis Waiter and worked his way up to Head Waiter before being promoted to the position of Guest Services Manager in 2007 and most recently to Assistant Manager in 2017. He takes great pride in ensuring that everyone who walks through our doors is well looked after and particularly enjoys welcoming back regular guests. His favourite time of the year is the Spring when the hotel grounds come alive.

Andrew Esson, Assistant Manager / Events

Andrew first joined The Atlantic Hotel in 2014 as a Hall Porter before moving up to the position of Senior Hall Porter in 2015 and then being further promoted to the role of Assistant Manager in 2016.  

Born in Scotland and educated at Strathclyde University, Andrew is an extremely engaging host and likes to focus his attention on delivering the highest standards of customer service, from making recommendations on the best beaches to visit to ensuring that guests have everything they need for an enjoyable stay.

Kamila Holland, Assistant Manager

Kamila joined The Atlantic as Assistant Manager in November 2017 having moved to Jersey with her husband Will when he took up the position of Executive Chef at the hotel.

Originally from Poland, Kamila completed an MA in Marketing Management as well as her MA in Hotel Management and Catering. Along with her impressive education she brings a wealth of experience to The Atlantic having previously worked at Coast Restaurant in Pembrokeshire where she was Restaurant Manager and at La Becasse in Ludlow as Assistant Restaurant Manager. Kamila loves nothing more than sharing her extensive culinary knowledge and warm nature with guests.


Will Holland, Executive Chef

Will Holland joined The Atlantic Hotel in October 2017, bringing with him a relaxed vision of fine dining which celebrates the very best local ingredients.

Will has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants since the age of 18 and was awarded a star before the age of 30. He brings considerable experience gained in some of the finest establishments in the UK, including La Bécasse Restaurant, L'Ortolan Restaurant, Gravetye Manor, Homewood Park and most recently Coast Restaurant in Wales. Will was named by The Good Food Guide as one of its predicted 10 most influential chefs of the next decade and was named UK Restaurant Chef of the Year 2016 by The Craft Guild of Chefs.

Adam Braithwaite, Sous Chef

Adam joined The Atlantic Hotel as Sous Chef in October 2017, bringing his extensive Michelin-starred restaurant experience to Jersey.

Inspired to work in the kitchen at a young age, Adam began his career at La Becasse, Ludlow, where he first teamed up with Ocean Restaurant’s Executive Chef, Will Holland. Adam then moved to The Samling Hotel in Windermere as a Chef de Partie before becoming Acting Head Chef. Adam is familiar with small islands, having previously worked at the Isle of Eriska Hotel in Scotland as Sous Chef. With a passion for food and restaurants, Adam loves to keep up with the latest culinary trends.

Jarek Nowakowski, Head Pastry Chef

Originally from Poland, Jarek rejoined the team at The Atlantic Hotel as Head Pastry Chef in 2016 following time spent back in his native country with his young family. Jarek studied hotel management and catering at university in Poland, spending time in England, Greece and France as part of his course.

Deciding on a career as a pastry chef, he has previously worked at a number of prestigious establishments, including Midsummer House, Cambridge and Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, and has completed a ‘stage’ at Noma in Copenhagen, the quirky Nordic venue voted the world’s best restaurant in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Jarek is known for his impeccable attention to detail, use of the finest ingredients and his belief that every dish must be of the same consistently high standard.

Jaroslav Sedlacek, Food and Beverage Manager

Having worked all over the world including in Melbourne, Toronto, Prague as well as in the UK developing his knowledge of food and wine, Jara joined The Atlantic Hotel in December 2017 as Food and Beverage Manager.

Jara loves to share his passion and knowledge of wines and spirits with guests and staff alike. He has previously worked at a number of prestigious establishments including as Head Sommelier at South Lodge Hotel in Horsham and as Restaurant Manager at the Tudor Room at Great Fosters in Surrey. Jara achieved a distinction in his WSET (Wine & Spirits Education Trust) Advanced Sommelier qualification before going on to gain his diploma.

Steven Firkins, Head Gardener

Originally from the North West of England Steven has always had a love of gardening. Prior to coming to Jersey in 2005 Steven worked in the logistics industry in the UK. Following his arrival in the island he decided to take the leap and make his passion for plants and planting his career.

Steven originally took a short-term position at Samares Manor, but found that he enjoyed it so much he remained in the role for six years. Steven is now responsible for maintaining the six acres of gardens and grounds that surround The Atlantic Hotel and ensuring that they are always kept in pristine condition for guests to enjoy.
