Atlantic Builds On Success
Following the completion of a £300,000 refurbishment programme, The Atlantic Hotel re-opens on Friday 10 February with a newly redesigned ground floor. The re-styling of the entrance hall, lounge areas and library has been designed to build on the success of Ocean Restaurant where Head Chef Mark Jordan has recently won a coveted Michelin Rising Star award.
Atlantic Managing Director, Patrick Burke said "We have worked hard over many years to continually improve our product. The Atlantic is now recognised as one of the top 25 hotels in the country outside London, and our latest initiative not only updates the look of the hotel but also gives us the platform to raise guest service to a new level."
London based interior designer, Julian Reed has continued to develop his vision of The Atlantic where contemporary elements are mixed with traditional. His design is influenced by the hotel's dramatic coastal setting with white walls and American shutters complementing a traditional granite wall and antique floor finishes. The entrance hall and lounge carpets have been replaced by oak boards which allow the introduction of loose rugs that suggest a more residential atmosphere that is entirely appropriate for a small, intimate hotel. Much of the existing furniture has been retained to emphasise continuity, albeit re-upholstered with exquisite fabrics to complement the sophisticated new style. New pieces have also been added, including a magnificent display table hand crafted by local cabinet makers, Whittingham & Company.
In keeping with the work carried out for Ocean, great emphasis has been placed upon unique artwork, with highlight pieces from leading local artists – Atlantic Dunes by Nick Romeril, La Rocco by Martin Bullivant and Crossing the Sands by Naomi Renouf. Other notable additions include a specially commissioned glass sculpture and striking driftwood art.
