Discover the conservation legacy of Gerald Durrell in Jersey as new ITV drama ‘The Durrells’ launches

In celebration of the launch of the new ITV series ‘The Durrells’ at 8pm on Sunday 3rd April, Durrell Wildlife Park and The Atlantic Hotel have teamed up with a ‘wild’ family offer. Guests to the island can discover the wildlife haven created by famed wildlife conservationist and author Gerald Durrell, the world-renowned Durrell Wildlife Park.

The six-part ITV series will explore the childhood of Gerald Durrell and his family in Corfu as detailed in his book ‘My Family and Other Animals’, which inspired his life’s work. This included the establishment of Jersey Zoo in 1959.  Today known as Durrell Wildlife Park, it is run by Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, an international charity working globally to save species from extinction. The Park has encouraged and inspired generations of visitors in the importance of conservation. From western lowland gorillas and Andean bears, to black howler monkeys and meerkats, there is something to captivate guests of all ages.

Visitors to Jersey this year will be able to immerse themselves in this wild environment with a one or two night stay at Durrell Wildlife Camp, a collection of luxe-pods with fully equipped kitchens and private bathrooms on site at the Park. Perfect for families of up to four people, guests have unlimited access to the Park during opening hours allowing them to spend time exploring in detail, viewing animal feedings or enjoying a behind the scenes animal encounter.*

From there, guests can experience a family-friendly two night stay at The Atlantic Hotel. Set above the five-mile stretch of St Ouen’s Bay, the family owned hotel is the perfect starting point to discover the natural beauty of Jersey which inspired Gerald to call the island home. Children will love The Atlantic Hotel’s indoor and outdoor swimming pools, while parents will find life is made easy with interconnecting rooms and family suites, baby-listening and sitting services.

The Michelin-starred Ocean Restaurant, perched high above the Atlantic Ocean has a dedicated nursery menu and Executive Head Chef Mark Jordan serves up a selection of favourites such as homemade Jersey beef burgers and fresh Jersey plaice goujons with Jersey Royals.

One night at Durrell Wildlife Camp starts at £170 based on two adults and two children sharing**, while two nights at The Atlantic Hotel start from £960 for interconnecting Golf View rooms sleeping up to four, including breakfast.
