Introduction and background

The Atlantic Hotel is a stunning, award winning 50 bedroomed hotel situated on the western side of the island.  This world class small luxury hotel is set in ten acres of grounds and enjoys dramatic views over a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty. Built in 1970, it is a family owned and run hotel.  It is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and has over the years won many awards including four Red Stars and four Rosettes from the AA and 'Independent Hotel of the Year' at The 2014 Catey Awards.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Hotel Manager and working closely with the Bar and Lounge Manager, this is a very important position within the Management team of the Hotel. It’s a hands on, customer facing role.  This individual will be fully responsible for the day-to-day running of the restaurant and other food and beverage offerings within the hotel to include breakfast, lunch, dinner, lounge service, terrace service, afternoon tea, room service and all meetings and events. They must be a leader, an individual who can confidently lead the operation and team, an out and out ‘people person’.  They must relish guest interaction and be prepared to become the face of the ‘Ocean’ restaurant.

Candidate Criteria

A strong leadership style is required to ensure that discipline is upheld at all times along with the highest standards, our candidate will need to lead by example. 

This individual must be commercially minded, must show initiative and bring new ideas to the hotel. They must be committed to implementing change when required and to joining the management team on a journey of excellence.  Ideally candidates should have had experience of running a similar standard of restaurant and should have a background that reflects quality. 

Candidates should demonstrate experience of leading a team and must be able to motivate and direct less experienced members of the team.  Candidates must also be practical, intuitive and sensible in their approach at all times.
This is a tremendous opportunity for the right person with a solid mix of knowledge and experience, and the personal qualities and characteristics to work comfortably and effectively in this type of environment.  Personal presentation of the very highest standard and a calm, measured demeanour are also ‘musts’.   

Package and benefits

This is a key role within the business and as such the salary will directly reflect this. Additional benefits include:

  • 20 days holiday plus lieu time for bank holidays
  • A share of gratuities/service charge

The tax regulations on Jersey mean there is a maximum tax rate of 22%. This is a significant tax saving in comparison to UK tax rates and has been taken into consideration when defining the salary package in its totality. 

Support will be given to this individual in finding appropriate accommodation on the island.
