The Atlantic Hotel flies the flag for Jersey in top Swiss lifestyle magazine

The Atlantic Hotel and the island of Jersey have been selected as the main travel story in the current edition of La Tavola, one of Switzerland’s top lifestyle publications. The ten page feature comes at a time when visitor travel to the Channel Islands from Switzerland is on the increase.

The article was commissioned by La Tavola editor Ursula Egli following a meeting with Atlantic Hotel owners Patrick and Treena Burke at a media showcase event organized by Small Luxury Hotels of the World in Berlin earlier in the year, following which Ms Egli agreed to travel to Jersey with a professional photographer as guests of The Atlantic.

A luxury Swiss lifestyle publication, La Tavola is aimed at those with an interest in luxury travel, fine wine and good food. The glossy magazine combines articles on gourmet travel and fine dining with insights in to the work of culinary professionals.

Travelling direct from Zurich with Blue Islands, Ms Egli quickly fell in love with the island describing Jersey as a “mixture of French finesse and English self-effacement” and explaining that “the restaurants are outstanding. From trendy beach cafes to traditional pubs, cosy country houses, small fish restaurants and gourmet restaurants, everywhere you go you get fresh local produce on your plate.”

Recent statistics from Jersey Tourism indicate that leisure travelers to the island from Switzerland have risen by 24% in the last four years.

Commenting on the extensive coverage in the magazine Patrick Burke said: “I am thrilled that Ursula accepted our invitation to visit the hotel and experience all that Jersey has to offer. The resulting coverage exceeded our wildest expectations and I’m delighted that we are flying the flag for Jersey in this key European market.”
