Atlantic owner elected as Vice Chairman of Small Luxury Hotels of the World

Patrick Burke, Owner and Managing Director of The Atlantic Hotel, has been elected Vice Chairman of the International Board of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) at the recent board meeting held in the Dominican Republic.

An exclusive collection of the very best independent hotels around the world, SLH features over 530 award winning properties in more than 70 countries. The consortium’s activities are designed to provide similar economies of scale to those achieved by the big international hotel chains, yet maintain the individuality and independence of each of its member properties.

Patrick is deeply committed to SLH and has visited over 190 member properties around the world, having first served on the Board for a twelve year period commencing in 1999. In 2006, Patrick was elected Chairman of the SLH Board for a three year term and worked closely with the management company to ensure SLH’s continuing success at a time of rapid change.

Patrick Burke was re-elected to the International Board in 2012 by industry associates and peers in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region in a closely contested election. The International Board is made up of 12 hoteliers drawn from the three regions of The Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific.

Commenting on his recent appointment, Patrick Burke said: “As a past Chairman of the International Board and having been involved with SLH for over 20 years, I believe that I have significant experience to contribute and look forward to working closely with the current Chairman Anchalika Kijkanakorn. It is a tremendous honour for me to represent The Atlantic Hotel as the sole Jersey member of SLH and I am incredibly proud to fly the flag for Jersey on the board of this prestigious global organisation.”
