Patrick Burke, Managing Director

Educated at St Michael's School, Jersey and Stowe School, Buckingham, Patrick gained an Honours Degree in Hotel and Catering at the University of Surrey.

This was followed by management experience at two of London's leading five star hotels – The Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge and the Intercontinental at Hyde Park Corner. In 1987 Patrick succeeded his father as Managing Director of The Atlantic and soon embarked on a development programme to upgrade every aspect of the property – a process which led to The Atlantic's admission into membership of Small Luxury Hotels of the World in 1993 – and continues to this day.

Mark Yates, Hotel Manager

Mark is a highly experienced and accomplished Hotel Manager, who joined the team at The Atlantic Hotel in July 2012.

His appointment marks his return to the operational side of the hospitality industry having previously set up and run his own successful hotel management and recruitment company, Edward-Brooks, after working for many years at a number of high end establishments including a seven year stint as Manager at Gravetye Manor. Outside work Mark enjoys travel and is a keen cricketer, as well as enjoying rugby, golf and tennis. Other passions include fine wines and dining out, and he has been impressed by the wide choice of restaurants the island has to offer.


Stephanie Paddock, Marketing and Communications Manager

An experienced marketing professional and a specialist in the luxury sector, Stephanie Paddock is The Atlantic Hotel’s Marketing and Communications Manager.

Born and educated in the island, Stephanie has previously worked at Grand Jersey and prior to joining the team at The Atlantic Hotel in 2014, Stephanie spent almost three years with the Dolan Group, managing marketing activity across four properties. Stephanie is currently studying for the Diploma in Professional Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Anna Robins, Events Manager

Anna Robins rejoined The Atlantic in February 2009 as Events Manager having previously been employed at the hotel from 2001 until 2004 as Receptionist and Head Receptionist.

Anna returns with a greater understanding and knowledge of Jersey as a conference destination after spending the last five years specialising in conferences and events at two local hotels. She is very excited about resuming her career at The Atlantic and especially looks forward to offering clients tailor made packages which include Michelin-starred dining.

Hayley Brockwell, Reservations Manager

A native islander, Hayley first joined The Atlantic after leaving college in 1982 and has now been with the hotel for 30 years.

Currently Reservations Manager, she has experienced the evolution from manual bookings to a computerised system, the internet and e-mail, and she enjoys the day to day variety of her role and the contact she has with old and new guests. She loves The Atlantic's family atmosphere and friendly team, as well as Jersey's tranquil lanes and spectacular views. Away from The Atlantic, Hayley divides her time between visiting her family's timeshare in Tenerife and walking along the island's cliff paths.

Mark Jordan, Executive Head Chef

Mark decided at school that he would pursue a career as a chef, and his first job saw him spend three years with Keith Floyd before he met Jean Christophe Novelli.

Novelli had a profound effect on Mark as he inspired him to create food of a Michelin Star standard by introducing him to the best combinations of ingredients which appeal to the five senses of cooking: smell, taste, texture, touch and sight. Mark joined The Atlantic as Head Chef in July 2004 from Gilpin Lodge Hotel near Windermere in The Lake District, having fallen in love with Jersey on his first visit.

Martinho de Sousa, Restaurant Manager

As befits his Portuguese roots, Martinho has a deep love of great food, fine wine and lively conversation.

As Restaurant Manager of the hotel's award winning Ocean Restaurant, Martinho believes that his role is to offer guests help and advice on menus and ingredients discreetly and unobtrusively. Martinho’s career has come full circle having started in Jersey at The Atlantic and taken him home to Madeira before finally returning to The Atlantic to take the helm at Ocean.

Richard Burton, Head Sommelier

Richard Burton is passionate about fine wines and gastronomy, having worked in the hospitality industry since 1995.

Joining the team at The Atlantic Hotel in 2014, Richard’s previous experience includes time spent at the prestigious Relais & Châteaux property The Inn at Little Washington in the United States, the renowned restaurant The Crab at Chieveley in Berkshire and Midsummer House in Cambridge, holder of two Michelin stars and 5 AA rosettes.

Steven Firkins, Head Gardener

Originally from the North West of England Steven has always had a love of gardening. Prior to coming to Jersey in 2005 Steven worked in the logistics industry in the UK. Following his arrival in the island he decided to take the leap and make his passion for plants and planting his career.

Steven originally took a short-term position at Samares Manor, but found that he enjoyed it so much he remained in the role for six years. Steven is now responsible for maintaining the six acres of gardens and grounds that surround The Atlantic Hotel and ensuring that they are always kept in pristine condition for guests to enjoy.
