The Atlantic Makes Waves To Claim Top Hotel Award
The Atlantic Hotel, overlooking St Ouen’s Bay in Jersey, has been named Pride of Britain’s Hotel of the Year 2005. This newly introduced annual award is for the hotel within the consortium offering the highest standard of hospitality and service, and follows nominations from the AA and RAC and an undercover visit made by James Brown, chief executive of The Academy of Food and Wine Service.
In his comments on the stylish 50 room hotel, Mr Brown said: “The staff have clearly been given a very well-maintained stage to perform upon. The hotel is crisp, clean and superbly managed. I also witnessed staff activity addressed towards the elderly, children and newly-married couples – all treated differently and appropriately. The Atlantic performs at a very high standard all of the time.”
The award was presented to The Atlantic’s owner Patrick Burke by Pride of Britain Hotels chief executive Peter Hancock at the consortium’s annual meeting at The Goring Hotel in London on April 18. Mr Hancock said: “All 40 properties in the Pride of Britain collection are renowned for their high standards and we went to some trouble to ensure that this award was judged fairly and impartially by respected organisations outside our own. I personally congratulate The Atlantic on having clearly surpassed some of the very best hotels in the UK in terms of hospitality.”
In response, Mr Burke said: “The Atlantic is a long-standing family business and what is most special about Pride of Britain is the fact that all its hotels are privately owned operations. To be recognised as winning the very first award from them is a real honour and something we really value.”
