Walking

Despite its size, Jersey offers a rich variation in landscape, from rugged coastline to wooded valleys, fields and country lanes, making it popular with walkers of all ages. Jersey Tourism has designed a number of island walks to introduce visitors to Jersey's many moods, some of which are summarised below:

Le Grand Etacquerel to Devil's Hole – an exhilarating walk along a section of Jersey's spectacular coastal path.

St Catherine's Breakwater, St Martin – the 700 metre breakwater provides a perfect vantage point to spot gannets, terns and even small schools of bottle-nosed dolphins.

Queen's Valley Reservoir, Grouville – a walk focusing on the new reservoir which attracts several species of waterfowl including mallard and tufted duck, coot and mute swan and is surrounded by sea campion, red campion, foxgloves and honeysuckle.

La Rocque Harbour, Grouville – a walk for birdwatchers who can observe wading birds roosting on the exposed reefs or scouring the tideline for food.

Noirmont, St Brelade – a network of pathways which attract a host of unusual birds and rare plants.

Jersey 'Around Island Walk'

The most ambitious walk on the island covers 48 miles and takes two or three days, depending on your level of fitness and enthusiasm. It offers the perfect introduction to Jersey as it incorporates heather-covered cliff paths, tranquil country lanes and rocky headlands. The round island walk is also available as a guided walk lasting five days with Jersey Tourism.

The Itex Walk

Not for the faint hearted, the round island walk can also be undertaken in one go for charity. An annual sponsored event, this year taking place on Saturday 23 June (the longest day), the Itex Walk covers all 48 miles of the island's beautiful coastline. Walkers can expect to complete the walk in anything from 12 to 21 hours.
